Hägendorf is located at 434 m above sea level, 5 km west-southwest of the district capital Olten. The village extends in the plain at the foot of the Jura, at the exit of the Cholersbach from the Teufelsschlucht into the Dünnerntal, in the so-called Berggäu. The 13.9 km² large municipal area includes a section of the Solothurn Jura and has a great landscape diversity. The southern municipal border runs largely along the canalized course of the Dünnern.
